ATHENA has found her furrytail ending!
Our blue-eyed goddess, Athena, decided that her next adventure lay in the far North. So without any fuss, she headed up to Cairns on a road trip with her new Dad. The Mifsud family, including Collie boy, Sparkey, has fallen head over heels for Athena and she's definitely found her rightful place in a loving home.
Thank you to Elliot & Charmaine and Robert & Lisa for fostering Athena while she was waiting for this beautiful conclusion to her rescue story. And many thanks also to her generous sponsors, Sonya & Chris.
Happy furrytail ending, Athena!
Um excuse me Sir or Madam, um sorry, could I please, um, have your attention please? Sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you. I am just, um, available for adoption and would like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Athena and I am as sweet and gentle as they come. I can’t really remember what happened before I found my foster family, but at first I appear a bit timid, shy and anxious. Although hang around a bit and let me warm up and I am the life of the party! After my initial warm up, I am great with everyone, kids and dogs alike. I never snap or snarl, just hide a little behind my people until I can assess the situation. At first, things like stairs, polished floors and car rides make me a little anxious, but with a bit of reassurance, I will give it a try. I am slowly even getting used to those pesky little felines. I am curious and want to know more, but have not shown any interest like typical Huskies usually do, so with some steady and careful introductions, it could be possible to share a home with one.
I never really insist on much, but there are a few things that I would really appreciate in my new home. I will need either a stay at home parent or if not, some doggy company. I like to just hang out with my canine friends and chat about stuff; I am not really one for rough play. I am housetrained and like to be inside with you as much as possible, especially right by you on the lounge. I would like a home where I can sleep in my very own bed at night. I curl up and you won’t hear a peep from me all night. I am a very clever girl and have learnt a few basic commands. Everything I do is to try and please you. Apart from all that, I am pretty fuss-free. I will be content to stay safely in fences that are minimum 4ft and secure. I don’t bother with digging or jumping. I do have some degree of hip dysplasia, which can be managed with supplements in my diet. It does however mean that, as much as I love my walks, 30 minute gentle daily strolls are just about as much as I can handle. I am very easy to handle on lead, much better than most other Huskies.
